Ocean floor turned black after NVIDIA driver update?

RC 1.20 (14)

I updated the driver for NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT. I didn't change anything else. My graphics settings are all on high except for draw distance.

Now the ground under the ocean is all black. The texture comes back if I bump the graphics quality down to Mid or Low. But it's all black when I'm on High or Ultra. This wouldn't be a big deal, since I don't spend much time under water, except it's just as black from above.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?

Thank you,

I don't know what causes it, but I have the same problem. I have an Nvidia GT6800 card, and assumed my card was going wrong until I saw this.

I did post about it on here some time ago, and nobody seemed to know what caused it.

You can improve matters by switching off the atmospheric shaders. That is all you need to do, and you can keep all your other settings the same. Hope you find the proper solution.

Selador,

Thanks. Yes, turning off atmospheric shaders fixed the black texture, but allowed me to be back on a high graphics setting again.

Hi Osprey!

The trouble is, Nvidia do a one-driver-fits-all these days, so that is generally the only one I can find. I do have an earlier one on my computer, but that seems to make everything run slowly.

My sim water is black, haven't looked at other places yet, it's kinda cool from above,
but walking into water and lowered terrain is a black pit.

I have a GF 8800GT and had the same problem after updating to the 17x.xx driver. After i went back to the last (whql) 169.21 driver, all was fine again.
