There is a thread about nVidia somewhere on the forums if you do a search, maybe someone has already posted the right driver for your card in there.
I'm not sure about your card's driver, but I have an older nVidia card than yours (7300 LE) and it does work just fine with SL.
I do NOT have the latest drivers, either... I have found sometimes that the "latest" nVidia drivers cause games to crash for me. So you might try an earlier driver, just to see if it makes a difference (I know others will disagree, but it works in my case.)
Be sure to actually uninstall the nVidia driver before changing it, not just install a different driver on top of it, as this can cause problems.

Calling a driver "old" that works for your needs is a little misleading. Drivers are not like security updates.....they are not required in every case. Some system configuration setups don't require a driver update........some do (it depends on what conponents are put together to make up the configuration). A driver ("old" or "new" that works is the proper one to use. Some (most, in fact) systems can use many different drivers with success......some can only use a few (possibly only one). Updating drivers without the need to do so can often cause more problems than not updating at all. If there's a reason to update, by all means, do so....if not, leave it alone. SL seems to mistake drivers that will, in fact work. I think it's the individual system setups (the combination of several factors only LL knows about) that causes that false information to be given. In that case you sometimes have to search for a driver that will work.......which, most of the time is the most recent, but not always. And take that advice about uninstalling the driver you are replacing before installing the one you want seriously.......way too often that gets you a corrupt driver. And the mandatory disclaimer: I'm an amatuer. NOT a computer technician by any stretch of the imagination. I know what has given me success and I know from reading and experimenting what works and what does not.
