Hi

I've read and read and tried and tried but still I can't log in

I last logged into SL over a week ago.

I have not logged in since. Weirdly though, I have been getting emails containing IM's from people, which could obviously see me in SL although I wasn't logged in. Really Odd

Anyway for the last two days I've been trying to log in and get this message.

Login Failed.
The system is logging you out right now.
Your account will not be available until.
Date & Time

I have downloaded SL onto another computer and get the same message.

I've raised a support ticket, but no response yet...

Any suggestions?

Hi, Subnik, welcome to the forums. Yes, this happens very occasionally ... your avatar is stuck in a "ghost" state. This usually happens when the sim you last logged out in was not very healthy. Lately the only thing that seems to reliably fix it is to restart the sim your avatar was last in. If you don't own the sim, try very politely IMing the sim owner and asking them to restart it sometime when it's not busy.

If the sim owner is unresponsive, then try filing a "region restart" support ticket, explaing the situation. This is one ticket you can submit even if you're just a basic account.

Meanwhile, you may wish to get an alt and see if you can find your main avatar. Sometimes ghost avatars are actually visible inworld, sometimes not.

Is there a way to IM the sim owner without logging on?

and

By ALT you mean another avatar, yes?

just tried to logon to see if i can find out the region i was last in, and blimey, i cant believe it, it let me in. Maybe it's the power of the forum....

D'oh! Not easily, no, unless you have a friend do it. Which brings us to your second question ... yes, I mean create a new avatar (that is, a new account). You would go thru the registration process again to create a second identity (it's free), then that one could find out who owns the sim and IM them about SubNik. You might also want to send the sim owner a notecard -- many sim owners get a LOT of IMs, which get capped and therefore lost.
