Tech Problem with SL install, maybe

Hello, brand new, haven't even entered the simulation itself yet.

I'll keep it brief.

Installed, started, adjusted video settings, decided to restart whole computer, all hell breaks loose.

I get a world of "Delayed Write Failed" errors including one for file $MFT which is the Master File Table. Subsequent reboots produce a BSOD with a stop error: "UNMOUNTABLE_ BOOT_VOLUME"

this link is a thread of people in different situations with the same symptoms http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/2459/

This link describes part of the solution that eventually worked for me and got be back to where I was before I installed SL http://www.tweakhound.com/xp/xptweaks/atiproblem.htm

After much stress, messing around, searching the web for suggestions (its a feared error, one with either many possible, or no certain cause, apparently) I came to the point where it was try System Restore one more time, and then Reformat/Reinstall everydamnthing.

Fortuantely for me, my system did boot in safemode w/o Stoping or DWF-hanging. After a system restore to a week previous, and then setting the registery key to disable, the problem seems to have disappeared. And the data on my HDD is intact.

So, what I need from the community is some info. Has anyone else had a similiar experiance, any bigass install problems? The only thing I changed on my comp today was the install of this game, no other adjustments/tweaks/installs for several days.

So, I can't for sure say it was something that SL did, but I can't find any other suspects. Perhaps it fudged up my boot.ini or $mft when it installed itself.

Is it an issue with the install? Do you think its safe for me to reinstall the game? Any help at all :) ?

my sys specs
P4 3ghz / 1gig DDR pc3200 ram / 800 mhz FSB, hyperthreading / HIS Excalibur X800 XT PE / WinXP Pro / SB Audigy. No OC'ing of CPU, FSB or GPU

Thanks.

Problem averted, fresh install sucessful.

I do believe the problem with my install was hubris. Not related specifically to SL. Perhaps "Please shut down all windows programs" is still a relevent warning and not an echo of a time of 32mb ram and 133mhz processors.

New issue, and I gather thats how it is at the moment, but I cannot log on, I get through half a loading bar and nada, I've attemped roughly hourly for a 9 hour period. Is there something I should try, or is it a matter of sit'n'wait till the issue is resolved on the LL side? I hope this service is more dependable than RO (with which I had a negitive experiance, though I'm told I chose the wrong couple of months to play).

There is a huge number of people right now having login problems. There's a patch coming out later today that MIGHT solve them. If it doesn't -call- SL support (don't write, because their written bug reports are backlogged).
