ATI X600 Problem

Error Message: "Second Life is unable to run because your video card drivers didn't install properly, are out of date, or are for unsupported hardware."

I cannot connect to SL. I played it about 6 months ago, and now on the same computer I am not able to run it.

I'm using a HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop with an ATI x600 Mobility gfx card. The ATI Catalyst Drivers are unsupported for HPs, so I've found pretty much that I can either use the HP gfx drivers which where last updated in '06, or use the Omega Drivers, which currently is what I am doing.

I uninstalled my drivers, then downloaded a fresh install of the latest Omega Drivers, restarted my computer, reinstalled Omega Driver version 3.8.442 and still get the same error.

Wondering if there is anyway around the Catalyst Drivers being unsupported, so I could use them finally, or if the drivers themselves aren't the problem and now my gfx card is no longer supported? I wouldn't think the latter would have happened since SL is still using the same engine that is 8 years dated, but maybe

In any event, I can't change my gfx card without getting a new computer, and that isn't likely to happen anytime before Christmas lol ...

It's possible that uninstalling the driver and then running a driver cleaner before installing new drivers might help.

It might be that running older Omega drivers would work if the latest one doesn't.

Also when you reboot after uninstalling the driver, when you reboot and MS tries to install drivers you need to tell it no.

Is that XP or Vista?

Also, when trying to look at the HP drivers, it wants more letters in the product number.
