Odd crashing problem

I have this laptop here that I would very much like to play Second Life on. Only one problem, after a minute or two, occasionally longer, occasionally shorter, it stops dead and crashes. The SL window goes black. I get an error message that pops up in the lower right corner
"Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has sucessfully recovered"
When I go to ATI/AMD's site to test whether I can play Second Life, it says I should be able to juuuust fine. I'm running Vista with a dual processor Turion dealy and an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 2400 video card. I updated the drivers today, and still it crashes like this. Does anyone know how I can fix this so I can enjoy the game?

That is a system error. Vista is telling you that the video card has stopped and Vista closed the program. That very well could be an over heating problem inside your laptop. Try placing a fan next to the laptop and direct the air at the computer. Make sure you have the laptop on a solid flat surface.

If that fixes it then go to Best Buy, Office Depot or some place that sells "cool pads". Laptops get very hot inside and really, being so cramped up, getting proper cooling is difficult.

Okay, I have tried the fan, and Second Life does go longer before crashed, but it still crashes. It shouldn't crash if I get a fan pad for it?

All that experiment says is that it's likely a heating problem. A cool pad would not hurt since laptops get so hot anyway............I would get one if I had a laptop. They are not expensive and most run off a USB port so there's no cord to drag around. Check Best Buy, Office Depot, Staples, Circuit City or any good electronics or office supply store.
