When I'm logged onto SL, it crashes all the time after I've been logged on for only a few minutes and have no idea what the problem can be. My friend uses SL all the time and has no problems... any advice on how I can fix this? Thanks.

Just my 2 cents ... but for me it was a dust problem... I had a lot of dust inside my computer box, on fan, cpu fan and cooler ... after a big computer cleaning ... silence when running computer and no more SL crash. It's look like SL is very cpu heating sensitive ... at least for me or for my cpu ( AMD Athlon 3200 +, 2.2 GHz). Try that, perhaps it will be the solution also for you.

SL is very CPU and graphics intensive and works those components very hard........which does heat them up more than most programs would do. A good blowing out of the dust about once a month is cheap insurance. Dust build up holds the heat on the CPU and GPU like a blanket. While you are in there blowing that dust out (it might be a good idea to take the box outside to do that, especially if you haven't done recently), the fans should spin freely when you blow the compressed air on them. Good luck............and if that don't do it then come back and give us some information on your computer so we can think of more to try to help you with.

!!!yes do it outside!!!
the cloud that results is spectacular ... just not on everything you own
make sure you get all the vent holes in and out of the computer, do the power supply from every angle possible (since its a box with a fan they love the dust)
and as peggy said, make sure your fans are spinning freely, even canned air will make them give a good high speed whistle (altho i suggest you use a air compressor thats free of moisture if at all possible, that canned crap is low psi and expensive)

Thanks Saku, my computer, when "trying"to get into SL is making the tired running sound, and it seems that my alt, which has no inventory , as compared to Penumbra, can get on, but I loose her when I TP. When Penumbra did get on, it took forever to load my inventory, then I crashed. Better to get it cleaned then start messing with portals. I posted above.
