What version of SL are you running? What version is your video driver? It's a lot more useful to provide version numbers than to say "the latest".

Have you done a forum search for existing threads on the subject? If you do a forum search for 4850 , you will find threads where people report having your problem and having solved it.

RE: ATI HD 4850 - Can't Start
09-24-2008 17:44
Hi,

you really need to run either Catalyst 8.7 or 8.9 to fix the issue.

unfortunately, Catalyst 8.8 has a critical problem and will crash immediately when you try and run SL, or as soon as you touch your mouse.

Sincerely,

DMC

Nop, it was not helfull, but thanks anyway!! :D

its kind of funny... I bought the last vga "Supported" by SL and doesnt work.
it's that difficult to advice this problem to users?

300u$s in my country economy is equivalent to 1000$.

easily I could purchase any other supported model (a lot cheaper) instead i buy the better vga that SL "supports".
