I need a bit of advice. For a few months now when I go to log off SL wont shut down. I have to always end task now and it takes forever. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Sl a few times now ...doesnt affect my problem at all. I assume it has something to do with windows? Im running xp. I also get SL Not responding ALL the time..if I wait it finally kicks back in. Any suggestions??

discribe "uninstall and reinstall" sl please
like did you use the uninstall shortcut and reinstall?
or did you go in and manually remove the secondlife folders, both in program files and your user folder(s)
additionally after the uninstall did you use some form of registry scrubber?
see the thing with windows is if you uninstall it leaves crap all over the place, it basicly deletes just the "mission critical" files, but it leaves stuff like application settings, and registry settings

before you uninstall/reinstall over and over, try deleting the SL folder in Application Data:
C:\Documents and Settings\{windowsuser}\Application Data
{windowsuser} is whatever your windows login is.

like they said above me uninstall using the shortcut THEN there is a folder you cant see that contains all your personalized setting among other things look at this microsoft article (since im too lazy to transpost it) http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/hiddenfiles.mspxthen go to "my computer" choose "local disk C:" choose "documents and settings" choose whatever your windows username is then choose "application data" in THAT folder you will see a folder named "secondlife" (if you dont your in the wrong user name) delete it go back to "local disk C" choose "program files" if it gives you a warning message click the link look for a folder called "secondlife" delete that too fortunately the windows client doesnt add anything major to your registry so try deleting that, re install SL and give it a whirl and if all that doesnt fix your issue please post back (or if it does post a thank you we get all happy over that)

oh and for question 2 i think they are related
windows is great for this, i bet while your in the program files folder you will see crap you uninstalled months or even years ago still hanging around
ive been totally windows free for over 3 years now, and if I want to uninstall sl i just delete a folder on my desktop
course if i want to install something i might have to know 4 text commands, how to compile a program and make my own links, but give and take i guess
