The only problem right now i can see in the game is the extreme lag. I have a cable connection, 2200mhz computer, 256mb ram, and a geforce2 mx and its extremly slow! I dont really enjoy it as much as if it was laggy. Thats one thing that you guys might wana keep in mind.

You might wnat to updgrade you'r video card and add more ram.

Right now, avrage FPS is roughly 10. Even though I get 3! lol

Yes, the GF2 MX is the low-end of the high-end cards. The GF3 Ti200 is a good affordable card, but of course the GF4 Ti's are better (and more expensive).

anything less than 512 meg of ram and GF4 (min) 64 is gonna have lag to a degree , with that rocking Processor add the ram and go GF4 TI4200 or TI 4600 and you will totally ROCK!!!!

More system RAM is the single most cost effective way to bolster performance in an upgrade.....

also stay away from the welcome area as much as possible thats the laggiest part of the game....

have a look here for your upgrade needs )

The setting that will help you the most is view distance.

I play on a 900mhz laptop with a 16mb Geforce2go graphics card and 512mb ram. I don't get great frame rates, but they hover between 15 and 20fps which is playable. I have textures set to highest quality and video memory set to 32 (things look -really- crappy with this set to 16 and I have not crashed or had any performance issues with it set to 32). But my view distance is 96, sometimes 128. If I'm doing detail construction work where I want it to be smoother I drop the view distance all the way to 64.

Another thing is a really fast internet connection won't help you unless you up the network settings. You want to put them as high as you can without getting any packet loss (the little bar second frm the right at the bottom of the main screen, the other bar is used bandwith).

not sure they are gonna cut back on game revelutions to make sure the new computer ya just got out of the box (and is already outdated in most cases) works to just the way you had hoped it would , they dont sell upgrades for the sake of selling them , its to increase performance....
The probelm with alot of people is they tend to think well this is a new machine it should do this and that when in fact most manufacters cut corners on a few main components and they are as followed ....

Cheap Motherboards
Low end sound cards (lots are integrated )
Lack of enought ram for todays cutting edge programs
Poor or outdated Video cards (tons of integrated junk)
Slow hard drive speeds

Unless you are fairly computer literate the system you bought probably had some of those features , if ya can call them features lol

Its very hard to find a new computer at Best Buys , Sears,or whatever store that meets todays high end gaming needs without doing some basic upgrades ...
Unless you buy a Machine specifically designed for High end gameing and even then alot of them have low end video cards and some even use regular SDRAM with P4 and Athlon XP processors and the ram simply does not keep up with the machines capibilities.....with Athlon XP and P4 Processors you most definatly need PC2100 or faster DDR ram ....
If you do find it then its a VERY high end machine and is costing ALOT more than it would cost to upgrade a decent machine with little to no intergration ....

This is NOT picking on this posters machine in any way....
I am clueless to what machine they have all I know is some basic specs...

What I am saying is this is a problem alot of people run into with the " new machine " out of the box

These are only my opinions take them for what you think its worth

I agree with Rivn... (execpt for the Compaq) anyways like he said too many retailers cut corners... NEVER EVER touch something with an intergrated VID card! You would do better just giving me the money!

Not to mention retailers such as Best Buy put extra garbage at startup on your system. Like does everyone need Quicken, Office, or any other garbage they sell as a package loaded for them?

These seriously can hinder the out of box performance.

Yea, I have an Athlon XP 1700 and 256mb ddr, and a Geforce 2 Ti with 64megs of ddr and a cable modem, mine runs just fine when i lower the drawdistance and put it on 800x600, and still looks great.

Compaq? So overly-engineered you need a crowbar just to pop the cover. At least I did.
