Feet... Obey me, not the ground!

Okay, this is an interesting one.

I have my Avatar's tooties covered in those wonderful roller-skates that are being featured around the grid (yes, her character loves to wear skates as was in the movie. Too bad I cannot further customize them, but that is life. :)

Now, when she is standing on the ground... all is fine and dandy.. AS LONG AS the ground is level, or near-level to the far-horizon. But when she alights upon an incline or rocky terrain, then the trouble starts. This was checked both in AND out of the roller-skates to make sure they were not the cause of the problem.

As you would note. When an avatar first stands or alights upon a surface after Flight... their legs are fully upright. But the animation pose changes a second later as the legs seem to relax a bit and 'settle down' upon the surface in a more 'relaxed' pose of the avatar. Problem here is that when her feet settle down upon an angular surface, they tend to attach themselves perpendicular at the sharp angle's incline. But the BODY continues to stand upright to the visible horizon as it should.

The net effect of this problem is that I have an Avatar that seems to have just broken her ankles in both legs and her feet (in the shoes) are twisted as they TRY to stay aligned with the angle of the ground or rocky-surface. OUCH! It would seem she needs crutches at this point. Her feet are both twisted out of shape!

Is there a way to have the code somehow check the measurement of the actual surface the avatar is standing upon, and if it falls above or below a certain value, find a way to PREVENT the Avatar from twisting her feet way out of proportion to the rest of the body? I am sure Sim hospitals everywhere will be thankful not to have to treat these twisted-ankle cases anymore! :)

Hi, Kira. Have you extended the bottoms of your shoes all the way? Last night my feet were doing that weird Mary Poppins thing, but I had forgotten to extend my shoes before putting the skates on. Once I did, the weird foot thing went away.

For customization of the skates, talk to Val -- he made them, and he's a very nice guy, and he'd prolly be happy to customize them for ya. Dunno what he charges for that.

:)

What exactly is the 'weird Mary Poppins' thing? :)

And yes, this problem has little or nothing to do with my choice of wearing those fine skates. Even after taking them off completely (cause I wanted to check to make sure this wasn't just a 'skate' problem), I alighted upon different rocky terrain surfaces in Both my normal shoes and my 'bare feet.' Each time, my feet/shoes would touch the ground and then my body would sort of relax, and that is when the feet twisted in awkward positions to align themselves with the level of the ground they were adhering to, while the Body remained completely upright. Again, the problem is most noticeable in rocky-hilly surfaces where the ground is tilted to the order of 30 degrees or more. Just my observation.

Ouch. ;)
