In case anyone else connects to SL using AOL Broadband, you might have problems with AOL 9.0.

When I upgraded from 8.0a to 9.0, it became almost impossible to control my avatar. I talked to someone from AOL tech support and he thought it was a low memory problem, since their new release uses much more memory than the previous one.

For me, the easiest solution is to continue using the 8.0a version.

LOL Eggy.

I used to have AOL a long time ago (think the 3.0 to 5.0 versions of their software) and it was extremely crappy.

List of AOL related crappyness:

-You cant use the net without their friggen huge bloated client running.

-Its excruciatingly slow to connect and use.

-The price... $25/month for the crap above is my definition of buisness fraud.

-They monitor everything you do, last I used AOL, all websites you visit go through a proxy (I think).

-Email there sucks. When I had AOL, everytime I checked my email, >90% would be spam.

All of this IMO of course* :D

Oh, and finally, AOL is flagrently destroying the environment with their cruddy CD's. An environmental group once protested, and collected over a ton of AOL's CDs and dumped them in front of the AOL HQ. HAH! I love it when ppl do stuff like that.

Sadly, even with that protest, AOL is still sending out and wasting tons of plastic every day.

I was very happy once I had an alternative "broadband" possibility besides AOL (after using their Satellite system for about 2 years, well, actually, I had it for about 2 years probab2ly could use it a total of 6 months due to it just not working right.)

I, too, hate AOL--

But, in AOL's defense, I must say that back in the old, old, old days of AOL it was pretty neat. When it had most of its material actually in the program (for exaaample, Nintendo was a keyword and it did -not- send you to an internet site) it felt worthwhile to own AOL.

Now, all AOL is a program that lists links to the internet. What's the point?

That, above all, is why I hate AOL.
