Name appears as (???) (???)

Just created this account and on all my friend's friends lists I appear as (???) (???) and I cannot receive invites to groups because it says I don't exist.

I can send items to the avatar. When I chat my name shows up just fine. When I IM people it works fine. All their names appear normally on my list. But to them my name appears as (???) (???).

I've tried re-installing and clearing caches but nothing has helped so far. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you aren't connecting properly.

Make sure your firewall allows SL. Resetting your modem/router doesn't hurt.

Have you never been able to connect properly or is this a new issue?

I can connect properly. Just power cycled my modem and router, and logged back in on my alt. I still appear as (???) (???) to everyone who has friended me.

I tried dual logging with another account of mine and I show up normally on my alt's friends list. So at least on the local side things are working.

However I still have this problem when I friend someone who is not on my local network. Could this just be LL server lag?
