ATI Catalyst 9.4 - Radeon HD 3800 - Not Playable

Since about a week I have extreme grafic bugs (see attached screenshot). I changed nothing within my computer, it is the same for nearly a year right now. After the bugs appear I reinstall SL (deinstall RC and install normal SL Client) and update my grafic drivers to the newest version.

I update my drivers cause SL was very very laggy before that. The last day it was impossible to turn around. Of course I cleared my cache and try anything else, but it was getting worse and worse.


I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+, Vista Ultimate 64 and an ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series. My ATI Catalyst drives is 9.4 after updating it.
The only programm which makes trouble is SL, no other program or game.

Really nice is, that the SL Screenshot shows me a normal pic, but not the SL Window :-/

Hope anyone here can help me, it is terible to play like that.

Browse through this board here and you will find many similar reports. Try to downgrade your driver. So lower version so better. Catalyst 7.11 if your card is supported in this, if not try to find a 3rd party "DNA driver" that backports to OpenGL from 7.11. For ATI itself some people had better success with Catalyst 8.12 or 9.1.

Latest news from Zen Linden in SLDev was that perhaps there will be an improvement in Catalyst 9.5. I simply don't believe that anymore.
