Hi all, im new to SL and was hoping for a smooth start up to test it and join the community however ive come across a problem from the word go.

For some reason the Avatars of myself and people wont load, i can see a persons name above there head and i can also see there hair and shoes and sometimes little other things like say belts and so on. Everything else seems to be invisible or missing or perhaps wont load. Ive included a screenshot of this, id appreciate any advice as SL seems like a really nice place apart from everyone is see through.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

You'Re on a Windows® system ? Try this :

- Set your mouse cursor where your avi is supposed to be
- Press ALT + hold down your left mouse button
- Now carefully and slowly move the mouse upwards = zoom in

Alternative : Just scroll your mouse wheel forward = also zoom in

By zooming in your avi should appear ( if it's that bug that I think it is)

What are your system specs?

What kind of computer, how much ram, what operating system, what kind of video card, what video drivers, stuff like that.

It's possible you need to update your video drivers, or if they are already the latest, you might need to try an older driver.

You may be able to make avatars appear by changing your active group. if the problem is intermittent.

Another thing to try is see if a different version of SL will work properly.

You might try doing a forum search for phrases like "invisible avatars" and other such phrases, this problem has been reported before.

Did you uncheck Hardware Skinning as suggested?

I found a suggestion in jira to go to graphics and move a few times from low to ultra and back.

What is the version of Second Life you are running? Have you tried more than one version of SL?

Have you done a forum search using terms like

2600 invisible

invisible avatars

2600 avatars
