Best performance upgrade?

I'm sure the linden's can answer this question (basically, what do you guys run SL on in the office?)

What's the best performance upgrade I can go to for SL.

I've got a fairly modern system for gaming, heres the configuration:
Athlon XP 2000+
Geforce FX 5900
512 Mb dual channel ddr, running at 333 mhz
nforce 2 ultra 400 (chaintech 7NIL2)
err...other stuff.....probably not relevant.

So-----if I want to spend no more than $200 (and preferably less than that) what should I get to make SL perform better.....

Faster processor? More ram? Which one has a greater impact?

Would going to 1.5 gigs of ram help the most? Or getting a XP 3000+? I'm not willing to go above a 3000+, because those run about ~$170-180, and thats my limit.

I think I can get 3 512Mb dimms for that, but if I install 3 dimms in my system, I loose the dual channel ddr (nforce design quirk).

More ram>?Faster ram

Anyways, just looking for some ideas, if no one has any thoughts on the matter, I'll scavenge some ram out of my servers, purchase a processor, and run some benchmarks :)

Is there any good way to benchmark SL....hmm...Hadn't though of that....

Get more RAM. Going up to 1GB (more than that won't really help you) is good - just make sure you keep it dual-channel.

After that, if you want to spend the money, get a faster CPU. With more RAM and that fast video card, you'll be completely CPU-bound.

We've never found a good way to benchmark SL without having a private sim, and even then it's dicey, so we don't have any official benchmark numbers.
