Media promble plz help

this happend about 2 days ago dnt know what happend but i just lost all music on evry sim nothing but i still get gesture sound and evrything else i check all in perference and stuff like that to see if i muted my sound but i didnt nothing muted evrything up but i still dont get any music but i get all the others. ive tryed restared my pc unistaled SL reinstalled it and even went to the lateesed edition to see if it woul fix but nothing and i also tryed to reset my router aswell and nothing still


can anyone help me. pleese it hard when ur trying to be a DJ and u cnt hear urself

Sorry, I can't help you. But just yesterday a friend told me exactly the same. When she logged in and out a few times the music streams were there again. I'm afraid it's a grid prob.

i have to stop doing jobs now cuz i fault i could fix it in a week and still nothing is there anyone tahta can help me

My partner has exactly the same problem for a few days now. Sometimes he has musicstream back, then it stutters and is gone again. He uninstalled and installed secondlife again twice now, cleared cache, checked all settings, downoaded quicktime again, checked his own computer... He gets rather desperate as he mainly is in SL to enjoy all the music events and stuff

He can hear the sounds like the sea and our pets noises, just no music or video streams. This happens everywhere, on several sims. After debugging he had music back for a few minutes, than it was gone again.

Yesterday he also culd not reply to IMs for some hours, he did get them but culdnt answer them. And his friendslist also had gone. IM's and friends were back late last night, music still gone tho...

Meanwhile I am there with him and all works fine for me.

Is this a known issue then, and nothing he can do about it himself?

Just a thought... culd it be the server (or sumthing like that) those pple with these problems are on? I'm not technical at all... but... My friend who has these probs lives in Scotland, just saw JoeRio is in UK too... Maybe they are on an SL connection that causes probs at the moment?

I heard something about possible probs with Quicktime (used for music in SL) together with Firefox as a browser..... Culd that be it ???

well i do have firefox as my browser but i dnt run quicktime so it could be it i dnt know i just want it fixed

I too have started having problems with the music streams everywhere. They work fine in WinAmp, so it is not my computer. I have never had this problem in SL and I have been there almost 4 years. Can't get music on my own land no matter what stream I put in, nor can I get it at clubs on other sims. Have also uninstalled and reinstalled SL. No music streams. Bur someone else can hear the stream on my own land as well as the clubs we frequent. He doesn't seem to have a problem.

there has been something a miss for the last two weeks. I haven't run into the issue yet (Firefox, AT, and running the RC) but hosting live music have had some of the patrons not get the stream and as well drops that take re logs (this is with a number of stream servers not just one)

there seems to be some kind of bug with the Client grabbing the stream properly. And it seems to effect a lot of users (more seem to be in the UK, but many in North America as well)

I have no help though. I couldn't find a jira on it either.

As far as i know u need to have quicktime to listen to music in sl, and see video's there. So you shuld have quicktime installed to be able to hear music anyway...

One guy, also using Firefox, deleted IE7, MSN and Winamp from his pc and was then able to get streams on all locations for all of last night again! We start to think it might be a clash between Firefox and IE7... maybe after one of the 2 had an update.....

I lost streams yesterday for the first time in a long time.. I could stream in and everyone heard me, but I could not get a stream anywhere. QT is not updated to the latest (as it always goofs all my settings up) I do run FF and have IE still (there is no way to completly delet it that I have found, and its still needed for some sites

Winamp isn't it for sure. its something in the mozila stuff meshing with QT andf the SL UI.. I think

There is an issue with the latest offerings of Clients. I ran some tests when my movies would suddenly stop streaming and I would be frozen on the spot.

Pressing Ctrl+Shift+4 shows you what the Client is doing, when you click Play for movies, you get spammed with between 10-16 Placeholder textures (media texture for the pluggin rendering), by doing so, this locks your connection, overloads your client (hence the freeze), then after downloading all those placeholders, the movie streams, if its a short movie, then you are spammed again and again eachtime a new movie starts.

Packets are also being received regularily out of sequence, and lots of warnings about bad textures. I've also been noticing spurous messages about creating 'dummy' items in various menu functions. Clearing cache sometimes helps, but it doesn't last long before it begins all over again.

I started using the Hippo client, which seems more stable, although same issue with movies.. Only thing you must watchout for is.. everytime you logout of SL when using the Hippo Client, is to restart your PC, as it remains running in memory, at least in Vista.

I DJ useing sam 4 and on wednesday after the rollback my stream went screwy too.


My encoders are reporting that the bitrate is not streaming fast enoght, So is buffeting the stream, that makes it cut out and all so do some strange effects like looping .

From my pc point of view its fine going to the hosting site its just the people on my parcel ( and me tuneing into my parcel) connection to my host to hear the music

As ive been streaming for a good 8 months now and not had a problem like this before
Im guessing its down to the patch/rollback that happen on wednesday,


( and the other Dj who uses my parcel did not log in when the patch was active and his stream is fine )
