Which DX Version?

Hi,
I just about read all the GOOD info in all the forums and still have a question. I crash quite a lot, too, inspite of using every tweak that I know of, adjusting and readjusting the preference items in the game itself. I just came across an article on the Direct X Version 8.1b which includes "Direct Play 8.2". It is suppose to fix perfomance and connectivity issues with some on line multi-player games. ( It does not mention which ).

Is anyone using that version right now? Does Linden have any info on this? The version can be downloaded and will replace the current one but the Direct Play 8.2 part in uninstallable so I'm a little hesitant.

Any help is appreciated, this is a GREAT game.

PS: Presently running DX version 9.

Since DX9 is out why not try that. It would include what ever is in 8.2

Thanks Maxen, I am using DX9 right now but by looking at the DX 9 features there is no mention about it including Direct Play improvements. Have you or do you know of any player that has experimented with the Performance Preferences that you can pop up before connecting to the game and access while your playing?
Just wondering if anyone has settings that works better than the default settings.

I increased the cache size as high as it would go. This allows for more textures to be stored on your computer rather than downloading . That's all I've really done myself.
I'd imagine the direct play improvments are included in DX9 or they've changed something so tha they no longer matter. I'm not really sure though.
