every time i try to load sl, i get this error: "...logs/exec_marker is corrupt and unreadable. please run the chkdsk utility"
i run chkdsk, but with no luck. even tried uninstall and reinstall, but still got the same error.
i logged in as another user on this pc and the game seems to load just fine.
any insight?

Jenny, I don't know what Seymour did, but I would try deleting all my Second Life data locally, which would include the logs and all indexes. Uninstalling doesn't do this.
You will have to reset your preferences afterwards:
In XP the folder is (delete the whole thing):
C:\Documents and Settings\<your userid>\Application Data\SecondLife
In Vista the folder is:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife
