Fan Problem?

Lately, as I enter sims with more than just a few people, my computer's internal fan or motor begins to rev up. And, after a few minutes, the computer goes silent before the fan/motor starts up again.

But instead of continually whirring, the fan/motor pulses every 3 to 5 seconds and then goes quiet. This patterns repeats until I shut down and restart my computer.

Here's my computer info:

CPU: Intel Pentium III/Pentium III Xeon (0.25 micron process) with external L2 cache (2660 MHz)
Memory: 6141 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (Build 6001)
Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650
OpenGL Version: 2.1.8306 Release

I know this sounds bizarre, but if anyone can help, that would be great.

Have you cleaned out your computer lately? Hoovered up all the dust and such inside? It might help..

Sounds like it could be a case fan's bearings going bad.
