Hello everyone I hope this is the right place for this type of post. I am fairly new to SL and want to up-grade my video card. I am currently running a GerForce MX 100/200 card. I am looking for suggestions for an AGP card that would be good around $100 or less. I'm still taking all this 3-D stuff in and could use the help. Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest an NVidia 7600 card. The (slower) 7600GS can be bought for a bit under $100; the faster 7600GT will be a bit over.

If you would prefer a newer card with DirectX10 support (not needed for SL, but possibly useful for other purposes), your only choice is a Radeon HD 2600 card. The 2600PRO is the slower version; the 2600XT is faster and costs a bit more.

The fastest AGP card available would be the NVidia 7900GS, if you can still find one. Somewhat beyond your price point though.

512MB of video memory is only a minor improvement over 256MB for Second Life, and (of course) costs more. Among the AGP cards available, you'll get more performance by choosing a fast card with less memory over a slower model with more.

(Note: these recommendations are all specific to AGP. If you're buying for a PCI Express system, you have a LOT more choices.)
