downloaded new version help!

I have downloaded the 1.19 updates and my avatar is all messed up and strange. Can i get the older version which worked fine or how do i resolve it? thanks

Can you describe what kind of messed up and strange you have? Some of those can be fixed up pretty easily.

thw whole avatar is mixed up head in stomach no arms it doesnt look like a person at all it looks as if ive melted! This happened before when i downloaded it months ago but was able to go back to old version and it solved the problem. Thought i would try again same happened but not able to go back

OK, try this first before trying old versions. There are so many changes coming up in 1.20 that staying with the old stuff is going to become more and more of a handicap, so you should try to get your computer to make peace with Windlight if you can.

In the SL preferences, go to the Graphics tab. Check the little box on the right that says "Custom", and many more settings will appear. At the bottom left look for Hardware Skinning, and turn it off. That takes care of the "melted" or "shredded" avatar if you're describing what I think you're describing.

If you're still stuck, you can try using 1.19.0.5 from http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions

You might look up the unofficial Cool Viewer or Nicholaz versions if you have trouble getting 1.19.0.5 running.
