Last night I had to relog. Comming back a box popped up and said "Unable To Initialize Communications. We are unable to recover from this problem. Please uninstall and reinstall before trying again. If this problem persists, contact support@lindenlabs.com"

Before this message the software had been working.

Okay I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 10 times now.
Reinstalled XP. Double checked every thing including my net connection. I figure that must be working I am sending this message. Sent email to lindens and go the nice canned reply, Saying they should answer some time in the future. Has anyone ever heard of this and how do you fix it?

Thanks for your help

BTW, This place has more bugs than a porch light in june

Just hangs here and says cannot connect.

Has anyone else been getting this problem today Saturday 22nd? I could not connect for the whole day, any luck?

if you haven't logged on before, you most likely have a firewall issue.

From the Knowledge Base:

The ports that need to be opened are 12020 - 13050. If that range seems to be large, you can limit it to 12020 - 12050 and 13000 - 13050.

The best solution is to allow full connections to the entire Second Life server farm. Each server has its own IP address, and Second Life owns the entire 63.211.139.* IP range in order to add more servers in the future, so your best bet is opening 63.211.139.1 - 254 for future compatibility.

Try changing your firewall to allow traffic on those ports.

Yeah its strange, I do not have a router or firewall installed on my cable and I can ping/tracert the server data.agni.lindenlab.com just fine :(

Anyone ever get the "unable to initialize communications" error before? If so, what did you do to correct it?
