I use a work issued computer when I am on the road and can not load SL in it. I tried to use remote desktop to run it in my pc at home but I get the error msg "Second Life requires True Color (32 bit) to run in a window. Please go to ..... " That PC is running 32 bit color and SL runs great in it when I'm using it, and the portable is also running 32 bit color. Both are also using Win XP SP3 and the SL version I have on the PC is 1.22.11 Does anyone have any sugestions? I dont want to carry a second portable with me with SL loaded in it, which is what i have done before

You probably need to configure Remote Desktop to use 32-bit color, too.

I did configure both ends to 32 bit color (I think, since both systems told me that remote desktop is 32 bit) but when I tried remote login again it gave the same as before with a 16 bit color system and no choices to change. Is there something I need that I'm missing? Some procedure or driver upgrade? Anything?

You have to set the Remote Desktop Connection to 32-bit color, as well as both computers. When you start it, click the options button and go to display options. If Remote Desktop Connection isn't giving you the option for 32-bit color, all I can think is try a different remote program.

Doing a quick google search in regards to this shows even if it worked it would be extremely slow and un-playable. It would appear that no matter what settings you try, because SL utilizes a 3D game engine, it would cease to load.

From http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q300698/Support for Over 256 Colors RDP 5.1 enables you to experience 15-bit, 16-bit, and 24-bit color depth when you connect to a Windows XP-based computer (on condition that the local video adapter is capable of this video depth). It appears that MS Remote Desktop does not even support 32 bit color Are there any sugestions for an alternate remote desktop ?
