What the .... is going on now. sl ran for 95% good last few months but lately linden is again screwing about. I crash multiple times every day. now i seem t have problems logging in. the loggin sequence runs untill "waiting for region handshake" then stops. with "we're having trouble logging in...." It used to run so good.. i need a hug....  |

I have even connected directly to my modem removed all firewalls to see if that helps but still no connecting to the server and same message. |

Yes SL is screwed right now.
Quickly I can say that if you are recieving the waiting for region handshake hang while logging in, and you have tryed changing your log in location, then it is a problem on your end with your computer or network.
If you are recieving it while trying to teleport, then it is a problem on LL's end.
Seeing as you have a new computer with a new copy of vista. Make sure you disable it's firewall in the security section of the control panel.

Waiting for region handshake going on 4 days

I have attempted and completed every suggestion for repairing this problem but to no avail I cannot log in to SL and this has been going on for 4 days now. Everytime I go to log in I get half way into the process and read "waiting for region handshake"? Does anyone have any new suggestions? This is so frustrating any assistance would be greatly appreciated thank you , Lorna Lusch

I had a similar problem a while back but it only happened when I was trying to log into a certain sim. Have you tried logging into a different area than your last location or home?
Here is what finally worked for me after getting live chat support. After clearing out all my router, modem, cable lines and rebooting..a Linden support had me do a command from my DOS prompt that cleared my DSN.... ipconfig /flushdns ....and I was finally able to get to that particular sim. I repeat that I was able to log into other places in SL without the "waiting for region handshake" message.
