I wonder whether anyone will be able to help with this problem, which has been driving me mad.
I have an area of land which was divided into three different parcels. However, I had problems separating two of the parcels, and I now find the following:- I have parcel A, which adjoins parcel B. Parcel B adjoins parcel C. Parcels A and C are completely separated physically by parcel B and also a little bit of buffer land.
Yet when I select one of them, parcel A or C, both end up selected. Any change I make to one gets made to the other as well. If I change the name of one, the name of the other gets changed as well. And yet the plots are not touching.
Has anybody encountered this before? What should I do?

They're the same parcel.
It is possible to have a parcel in two non-contiguous plots... and if you had a big parcel, and cut out the bit in the middle, the other bits still remain joined.
I say, select all of one bit, say selection C then click Split in the About Land (or edit land) box...

Yes, it is correct that land regions do not need to be touching to be part of the same logical parcel of land. I joined parcels separated by a river into the same parcel for convenience. Sounds like you have inadvertantly created a similar situation.

I've been trying to split them. When I select part of plot A, and select split on the Edit menu, everything seems to be ok. I then rename the plot, and find that it is still joined to plot C. I've been able to split small parcels (that's how I created the buffer land) but as soon as I start to join them, the two parcels seem to get connected again.

OK - just as an update.
Today everything worked fine. It must have been some kind of glitch in the system.
