While I'm in changing my appearance, I crash. Every. Single. Time. Sometimes it's soon, sometimes it's about five minutes into it, but it always crashes. It's insane. I haven't got past the third floating-hand-help-thing at the begining of the game yet. My computer:
Athlon 1700+ MB: K7S5A Memory 256 mb PCC 133 Video Card: GeForce4 MX 420 Sound: Onboard (turned all hardware acceleration off and on, no difference)
Software: Latest video card drivers, DirextX: 9.0

Zelda:
Please make sure all the drivers for your computer, especially the motherboard drivers are up to date.
Very often this is caused by older AGP drivers on the motherboard.
To update your MB drivers you will need the manufacturer's name of the MB as well as the model #. The goto the manufacturer's webiste and they should have the latest and greatest drivers for your to download and install.
Please follow the MB manufactuer's website's instuctions, as, while the process is relatively straightforward, bad things do happen if you make an error with this type of update.

dumb question

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is a motherboard? I updated my video adapter, but I didn't see anything about a motherboard on the Sony web page (I have a Sony VIAO laptop). Should I be looking on the Sony web page or some other web page? How do I find out about my motherboard?

The motherboard is the circuit board that connects everything together. If you've got a laptop, the only place you're likely to find the correct drivers is the manufacturer's web page.
