Short post is: Don't.
Long post is:
When you place an object for sale as "original" instead of copy, you will lose money per prim. When a customer buys the original item, you as the creator do NOT get refunded your 10 bucks per prim as you should, and the buyer does NOT pay the extra 10 bucks per prim as they should. Instead, when the new owner takes or deletes the object, they get the $10/prim themselves, and all you get is the price they payed for the object.
Example: Costs me 10 dollars to rez a cube. I sell it for 1 dollar. Customer pays 1 dollar for the box. I get 1 dollar, customer loses 1 dollar. Customer takes or deletes the box. Customer gets 10 dollars. I get nothing.

If you sell the original for exactly $10 a prim, you should break even; it's like a direct transfer. If you sell for more than that, you should make a profit. Right?

Yes, Jake...
Which would make sense, too--because Original purchases SHOULD cost more and should be more valuable than copies, but... Hm. I don't see people selling Originals too often.

The only reason I see for selling an item below cost is that the creator wants to see a lot of them in the world, in this case, making a profit is not the motivator. Am I missing the point here? Why would an original prim be sold for $1 instead of a profitable $11, or $30? Its true you are not refunded the amount of the actual prim change of ownership, but the difference is made up in the cost of the item? From: someone Example: Costs me 10 dollars to rez a cube. I sell it for 1 dollar. Customer pays 1 dollar for the box. I get 1 dollar, customer loses 1 dollar. Customer takes or deletes the box. Customer gets 10 dollars. I get nothing. In this example, the creator got $1, not nothing. What if the item had sold for $50?
