I've never had issues with SL. I've never really expierenced lag. That is up until this past Thursday. When I tried to get on Thursday everything was horribly slow. I was ruthed everyone around me appeared to be ruthed. I couldn't even download my own clothing. I thought maybe there was an issue that day and tried again over the weekend. This is Sunday and I still can't function within SL. I downloaded the test client 1.19.1 last night and that seemed to help for awhile but today it's just as bad. I disabled my virus protection software and firewall. Before that I did a full system scan to make sure I wasn't infected with anything and I'm not. I have Avast antivirus. I'm not downloading anything no limewire or torrents or any of that. I made sure I have the latest version of my display driver. I know my connection is good. I have 10meg DSL which I'm actually getting and I did some traceroutes to various sites on the web to make sure I wasn't expierencing latency.

I'm going through a 2wire Wireless gateway. My computer is currently wireless so I tried it wired with no change. I also have another computer on my network which I completely turned off for the purpose of this testing. I reset my router and made sure all related ports were open. I'm using windows xp. I'm on a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop. I have 1GB of RAM and a 70GB hard drive which isn't even half full. I have a 1.8gHz processor. My display adaptor is a mobile intel(r) 945GM express chipset family with driver version 6.14.10 which I verified with Dell is the most recent one they can provide. Here is the information in the intel about file..

I apologize if I've supplied too much or not enough information. I'd really like to get this issue resolved. It's really puzzling me why this would all of a sudden start. On another note I have video and audio disabled in SL as well. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

"""I've never had issues with SL. I've never really expierenced lag"""

That's for the record... I think you don't need any help :).

This is a viewer / grid issue.

The viewer is unstable, it has lot of bugs.

And I don't know what are they (LL) doing to the grid, but the lag is horrible. It seems they are making big changes.

Now we can display html (only a snapshot of it) in a prim using parcel media URL...maybe they're working on that.

I shouldn't say I've never expierenced lag I have but it was also in a SIM with over 40 people. In certain situations lag is expected but not it's happening to me 100% of the time no matter what sim I'm in. After this post I updated my directx to 10 and reset my winsock catalog just because i couldn't think of anything else to do.

Kymchi, have you tried using the Nicholaz viewer? It doesn't offer Windlight but it does stop the memory leaks in the official viewer so it might be worth a try.

Nicholaz version BE-v still works great and doesn't require the mandatory updates, it still works with old SL client 1.18.5.3. (If you don't have that, you will need to search a bit as I can't find a download for it at the moment.)

EDIT: found the link for 1.18.5.3 on this page of Nicholaz' blog:

I had a support ticket in with Linden's since May because I have many sl issues on my iMac. We determined that SL and the 2wire modem do not get along on the Mac clients. There was no indication that the Linden's had anything in the works to fix this. So, Mac Users Unite. We need to have a patch. Rally the Mac troops if you will...
