I have a Radeon 9000 pro vid card, which I upgraded its drivers to the latest Catalyst 3.2 drivers as recommended by the alpha .5 test client. While I do have improved performance, especially with shutting down, I'm experiencing a texture problem I've never seen before. Basically, all the shapes are there, but I get thies weird multi-color sheen instead of the proper texture of certain objects, and sometimes it gets worse after I play for a while, like I get this black "spider web" look in av's and certain sperical objects.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this kind of problem, and whether or not I should go back to my older driver for my graphics card...

ATI Texture problems

Hi Josh / all,
The ATI video card problems are known, and we are working directly with ATI to solve them. They are especially egregious on the 9700 cards. It appears to be related to the drivers, but we are still hunting it down.

FYI Josh, the error is occuring in the mip-mapping process of the newest drivers. It's taking the texture cache and assigning some of the values incorrectly. Usually it's from out of the system (creating the colorful static you get) but sometimes you get pictures of things that were downloaded to the cache from a few sims ago. You should see the pictures I have of things donning the eyeball texture when really it had wood texture. That black sheen on the ground (and this is my personal and most likely assessment) is the transition that the mip-mapping tries to make from, say, zoom level 1 texture to zoom level 2 texture. Because the 2 zoom levels of textures are completely different textures due to the incorrect mapping, the blended result is just blackness.
I suggest you do as I've done and try to find really cool pictures to take of the freaky texture glitch I've now donned the "Acid Trip Feature" =)
