Yes.

You will probably need to update your video drivers after installing Windows 7, and older ATI graphics adapters may have issues since ATI hasn't made true Windows 7 drivers for them.

LL does not provide any 64-bit versions of the viewer. However, it is reputed that the viewer will run in 32-bit mode on 64-bit Vista and Linux (if 32-bit versions of required Linux libraries are available.).

I've seen reports of problems in 64-bit Windows 7, no idea if they are still valid.

Don't know if any intrepid 3rd party folks have attempted a 64-bit viewer. No idea why they would bother to.

Well my company has been working with a 64bit Version of Win 7 and building/selling computers running it, and our customers have thus far not had any problems.

OEM, Developer, and BETA copies of 7 have been available to OEM System Builders for acouple months now.

I know, that 7 Professional has a "Virtual XP" mode that lets you run a virtual simulation of Windows XP so you can use applications and programs that prefer XP and don't like 7.

But that is not available on the "Home" version of 7, which is likely what most people out there are going to be getting.

So I am all the more curious to see how well SL runs on a 64 Bit platform.

It runs fine in Windows 7 x64.

I had some issues with the beta, but it's been trouble free in the Release Candidate.

If SL doesn't run because your graphics drivers aren't up to date after installing Windows 7, you can download new ones from either Nvidia.com or ATI.com (depending on who made your graphics adapter) or the computer manufacturer's web site.

Windows Update should also do it.

What is the manufacturer of your graphics card? And how did you update your drivers?

My manufacturer is Intel and on their site it detects your driver and automatically updates it for you

Intel graphics adapters don't work well with SL. Automatic updating of drivers (especially video drivers) is probably the biggest cause of driver issues.

How did you update your adapter the last time you updated? I would guess Windows Update but not sure. If you can, go to Intel's website and search for your video adapter driver. Download it to your hard drive (don't auto install it from the site). Then uninstall the driver you are using right now......follow the instructions about restarting. When Windows boots back up it will want to install a new driver for you........don't allow it to do that. Close the window and navigate to the downloaded driver and install it. After the required restart you will be using that driver. You will need to know the model number of the adapter (like 945 or 950) Try SL again.

The above is a shot in the dark......I've never updated an intrigrated graphics adapter. I've always used discrete cards except on a few occassions that required me to remove that card for whatever reason....and I just lived with what I had until I replace the card.

Only if you have full CPU and bios support for virtualization, and not all 64-bit CPUs and computers do. Even ones that claim to. :(

Second Life won't run in Windows 7's XP mode anyway.
