Scripted IM spam, how do I AR it??

Today I've been getting spam messages they were scripted because of the green text I also have a special HUD that monitors the chatroom so I know it was sent via IM (llInstantMessage();) only.
So far I have been unable to mute the source even if I add object name to mute list.
Is there any way to determine who is owner of the source transmitting the spam??

message as follows:

It can be hard to identify the source of Scripted IMs.

You can use several tricks to find the owner and location of the object.

1. Turn on IM to EMail in your preferences. Wait until you start to get spammed then immediately log off. Hopefully one or more IMs will be sent before the script or owner sees you are offline. In the email you receive it will show the owner and location of the object.

2. Use a 3rd party client that shows the owner and location of an object IMing you. Emerald is my favorate choice. This is the easiest solution. Emerald availible here: http://modularsystems.sl

Thanks, I do have emerald client installed on my PC I rarely use it because of performance issues.
However if I get attacked again I'll be giving it a try :)

Another method, without logging in to a 3rd party viewer, is, to use an item finder. You can find them almost anywhere at freebie shops, or i could give you one, and let it search for the spamming object. In your case that would have been "Fatal error" and "LOL@U" and then to mute and inspect them, so you can AR the objects. It's harder though if the objects name is "Object" *lol* ^^; This emerald viewer looks interesting... i think i'll give it a try too ^_^

With this type of attack, the offending object will not be in the same sim as you.

I second the Use of Emerald, LOVE THAT CLIENT!, but, if your not comfy using 3rd party viewers, IM to email will give you an exact location (slurl) to the offending object. Let it send you an email or two, then use the SLURLS to go directly to the objects. File an AR, mute it... if need be, contact the land owner and ask them to return the object if possible.

Some people have no life.. and this exact thing has been happening for years... you'd think by now they would have a fix for it.

Actually, I think we'll have a better chance of winning the lottery than figuring out the information from the Lindens.

Curious about the Emerald Viewer and all the features?

It is, that's a regular 1.23 feature.

Good to hear LL is adopting some 3rd party clients features.

I think that one came from one of Coco Linden's old featurettes bundles. There weren't any PJIRA patches evident against that change, and the feature relied on a server side change to provide the SLURL.
