Ezhar Fairlight I want to thank you for the answer to not being able to log in due to the certificate error message that I've been getting. This is the second time it's happened after a new download and Second Life Techs never gave me this simple answer when I email the problem. I was down for days the last time and by accident I noticed my time and date was off and I wondered why, but I simply fixed it. I tried getting in a day later and had no problem logging in, but I didn't relate the two. I fixed my date today and got right in. Thank you very much for a simple answer to a simple problem. When we send an email to support exactly stating the exact error message this is the answer we should get, not just delete Second Life and reinstall a new download. Does the download cause the date problem? Thanks again LadiThrills

SL uses secure HTTP to login. The authentication certificate has an expiry date. If the date is not within a certain range, it won't work. The error message returned by SL could stand to be a little more clear, however. If your system time is being changed, it'll either be due to a user messing with it, because you have some kind of malware on your system, (run an Antivirus and Adware scanner) or because your CMOS battery is failing due to old age. If it's the battery, you can get a replacement CR-2032 (which I'm ASSUMING is what you need) at any watch or electronics store, and even in many supermarkets. If you don't feel comfortable poking around inside your computer, (and if you've never done it before, you really shouldn't) try and find someone else that's had a bit more experience. Replacing a motherboard battery is not a terribly big deal, but better safe than sorry, you know? If it's a laptop you're using, you may not be able to do it yourself, or it may be much, much easier. Laptops are funny like that. Remember to consult your manual first!

Catherine Omega Thank you so much for your reply. I am familar with opening my pc, replacinglyhardward etc. I'm not sure why my clock has been off suddent wrong twice in the last couple months, but I have had a problem with the power button for close to a year, so I haven't been turning the machine off often due to the fact that it sometimes won't start up. My pc tech can't find the reason because it never happens when he has the machine! LOLOL Murphy's Law. But I tend to think it wouldn't be the motherboard battery since the machine is restarted regularly but not turned off. But there is something that is affecting it and at least I know that I have an issue with time and date now, this had not been effected until recently. I'll be upgrading at the beginning of the year and will get a new tower, motherboard, and power supple so whatever is causing power button issues will hopefully be a thing of the past and my time and date should be no problem after that. Thank you again, much appreicate the response. LadiThrills
