I've never had a problem like this before but I was laggy so I quit SL, rebooted, and when I started the client, it would take me to the "logging in" screen with the load bar, and would stop at a certain point. I repeated this like 3 times and each time it stopped on the same spot.

So I say what the hell and uninstall SL, and reinstall, and now it's saying log in failed each time. Coincidentally it's about the same spot on the load bar as it was before.

This is not an issue about a forgotten password either, I know my password.

I don't have an alt, maybe I should try making one..

I really hope this problem gets fixed it's very frustrating

What's even MORE frustrating is the fact that SL has like, no support whatsoever so if you have a problem it's basically like oh well you're screwed.

See the 'Submit a Ticket' bit on the right? There ya go. Premium accounts have more ticket type options, but if it's a stuck account, or similar, they generally react relatively quickly.

If, however, it's an issue on your end...you never know. They may not be able to help, or they may not respond for a bit... and asking here is always a good idea, either way. Resident Forums respond much faster than any ticket type, usually.

From the Concierge Information Group tonight:

[21:52] Maggie Linden: News Update: We may be having some some database issues that can affect logins, so please refrain from major transactions while we check it out. :) We'll update with more as we know. :) Thanks.

Curious. Particularly since this warning doesn't appear to have gone out to the general public. Is this yet another benefit of having a premium account - receiving warning when the grid is about to cave in on itself?

I guess they figure those on basic accounts have plenty of money to blow on no-copy objects that fail to rez.

Typical.

Just on the Status page:
http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
It's not particularly hidden, or anything like that... it's in the 'Support' section of the sidebar of the main SL website, or the bottom section of the homepage of Secondlife.com

I'm getting that, too... was logged in, then got that message and was kicked out! How are there still 58,000+ people still logged in... and why me/us??

I logged out for the night after finding that my clothing wouldn't load on my avatar, and most of my inventory wouldn't load at all. I've learned the hard way that it's best not to try to mess with it when it's acting up like this.

What happened to the good old days where everyone got a grid-wide in-world message? I don't know about you, but I'm not in the habit of checking the Grid Status page every time I want to rez something to be sure it's safe... though I probably should.

Personally, I use it more as a "If something isn't working, check the page", than as a "Check the page to know it's working when it's working".

ok found something that worked..I tried logging in really fast about 10 times in a row and it finally let me in. I found this solution off jira..

I have a possible work around for this problem, that did work for me, and also a possible self service solution.

Keep trying to log in, particularly right at or after the stated time that your account will be available. It seems that sometimes you can get in after SL thinks it forced you off but before it notices your ghost again. At least I was able to sometimes get it to work if I kept at it.

If you are able to get in this way, and you can find out what sim you are ghosted on, go there for a few mins and log out from there. That seems to have wiped out the ghosting and fixed my problem with less impact and waiting than a sim restart. Note that the way I found out where I was ghosted (it wasn't that last sim I logged out in before the problem) was that I got some "are you ok?" IMs and was able to get the info from one of those people as to where they had seen me.

Of course I can't guarantee this will work for you, but it's probably worth a try.

Yes, but trying to rez a no-copy object just to have it disappear forever is a bad time to find out you need to go check the page.

My point is that Linden Labs *used* to make some effort to warn everyone when things aren't working right and to not conduct transactions or rez anything anyone can't afford to lose until they give the all-clear. NOW, apparently that information is only for the privileged.

I just gave a friend four no-copy objects, and she didn't get any of them. Is there any hope we can get them back?

Need I say more?

Mocha: My condolences for your loss. You are yet another victim of Linden Labs' wonderful communication. It wouldn't hurt to submit a trouble ticket, but chances aren't very good that you'll get your stuff back, I'm afraid.

Thank you Katheryne. My friend was told to clear cache and that fixed it. It sounded like if you are sent something while you are logging in it doesn't show up until you clear cache and log in again.
