I can't get the "AGP" checkbox to turn on.
As a result, the game appears to hang on load (mouseclicks extremely unresponsive, can't get past the loading clothing dialog).

I'm using a Shuttle SS51G with an SIS651 chipset and an NVidia Geforce TI4200 and 1GB RAM.

I've just installed windows XP onto a new hard drive. I've run through Windows update several times, and I've installed the latest NVidia and SIS drivers.

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Second Life.

Any suggestions?

The game used to work OK on Windows 2000 on the same hardware (except the hard drive).

BTW, Other games seem to run fine.

AGP Graphics Acceleration:
Checking this option enables your computer hardware to use the faster AGP mode for your graphics card. This option is not available for all configurations, including those with PCI video cards (and some PCI-Express cards). Checking this option improves performance for most configurations.

if you have the latest SiS chipset drivers installed, and the latest video driver installed... not really what else could cause it.

If you loaded either of those 2 drivers sets from CDs or something that came with them, that could be an issue... make sure you download the newest versions from SiS and from nvidia

I've installed the latest SIS and NVidia drivers from the manufacturers websites.

I have a feeling it's SL looking for the onboard video. Next I'll try taking out the NVidia card and running off the SIS. That's just a wild guess, but I'm out of other ideas.

IT turns out the solution was to buy a mac.

Who would have thought?
