I have a wonderful Place in SL and love it to death. Lord knows I have been putting up with a Lot of Lag as of lately but I have a Problem that sure makes it fustrateing and that is that in 2 areas I am forced to build across a sim line.

The land was a fantastic beach front property that for some reason SL chose to split the beach itself, down the length of that beach right in the middle. well I had to buy the property in the other sim to make sure that beach went with the beach front property. and then also, there is a great little island That I own that is also split right down the middle with a sim boundry. So I purchased the other half of that Island even though it was in the other sim.

My problem is:
as I walk across the floor in my build as soon as I step across that sim line I fall through the floor.
is there a way to stop that? with out condeming that prperty as worthless?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can correct this. It takes an extra prim, but if you add another prim below the flooring level it will stop it. As the AV begins to fall through the floor, the prim below it will catch the AV and keep it from falling completely through. Experiment with how high you can raise the lower support, it can even be inside the flooring prim. The AV will make a slight movement as they cross the sim line, but it wont fall through and you can minimize the effect pretty effectively.

Yeah theres an approx 5 meters on each side of the sim lines where avatars can fall through prims. So yeah, stick a 10 meter prim exactly in the middle of the sim line and it should correct the problem. My FIRST Plot of land was in uh.. Verbier I think, mature snow plot. Right on the sim line of Isere or Isora or something... another snow sim but PG this one was... I borrowed money to buy the other 512 plot next to mine that was in isere (payed the person back that next morning ^_^ THX broken =P) and quickly learned the disadvantages of owning cross sim property (no sharing of resources between plots... 117 on one and 117 on the other, that issue with the falling through prims, and many others. *shrug* I moved on from there and now I own a sim =P (or will this friday rather GOD I cant wait til friday!!!)

You shouldnt build over sim borders in the first place... I think it stresses the servers by forcing them to constantly communicate with each other.
I dont know what its like now, but I remember the first time someone did this it really pissed off the lindens LOL. There have been a number of issues with sim borders in the past. People lost objects and stuff... you never know when a new bug might pop up :)

I'm not sure whether you should or shouldn't do it, but my expereince of building a club over a bondary is to do the following. Build you structures so that th eprims don't cross over the boundaries but butt up to each other. Then add prims across the boundary line (you can use transparent prims if you want), one on each side. If you are careful you can have a prim that is in the current sim but juts out 8 or M into the other sim (use the number dialog rather than drag). Make sure that you do it in both directions and you should be fine. IM in world if you want help.
