Hello all, I have been running the 32 bit ver of xp pro for years and Sl has worked ok on it.

but, I just recently built a new pc and installed windows 7 beta on it, every thing works fine except secondlife.

when I click the launch icon it pops up and says its checking hard ware then a frame of a window comes up, then it closes and the crash logger pops up, I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times and it still does it, I have added --noprobe to the command line and no change.
I have checked and it says I have the latest drivers for every thing.

my system is a AMD phenom II X4 3Ghz
8gb of ddr2
Asus Ati Eah4870 1gb
windows 7 beta,

Please help and Thank you

If you haven't tried this already, you might want to go to Google and put

"second life" "windows 7 beta"

in as the search term and start checking the results.

What video driver are you using and where did it come from?

Windows 7 Beta is obviously in the beta testing stage. Because of that it's highly unlikely than many (if any at all) hardware drivers have been opitmized for that OS. As I understand Windows 7 is merely "Vista fixed"......which to me means you have a lot of extra, unnecessary stuff running by default. I would try to find out what that stuff is and turn it off. I would guess that Win7 being so close to Vista that drivers developed for Vista would work........but there's no guarantee at all.

Is Windows 7 the only OS you have installed on your machine? If it is you might install a second one so you can see if problems you might have with software, etc. is related to the OS or the software in question itself.

The best place to get more complete (and probably more accurate) answers to problems you are having with beta software is the people who are developing the software. Check Microsoft for forums and help.

What shows up in the crash logs?

Re: Win7 drivers: I can vouch for the fact that Vista drivers do work with 7, in much the same way that Win2k drivers work in XP. Whether or not there will be drivers optimized for Win7 remains to be seen.

At any rate, I have stopped testing Win7 for now. It has lately taken on the bad habit of throwing BSoDs with stop code 0xD1 several times a day, implicating its network architecture.
