Hi,
Thought I would start with the error message I have been getting using:
G5 dual processor 2Ghz Power Mac Verizon DSL 1 GB memory O/S 10.3.9
Full message: "Unable to connect, Login Packet never received by login server". This comes after "Waiting for region handshake."
I've tried it with two different accounts and neither work, both accounts login fine with my Macbook running Tiger which is wireless to the same Verizon connection, Linksys router.
The G5 meets all the system requirements for SL, but is there something I'm missing or meed to do here?
Thanks!

Huh, I am getting this error message today as well; I assumed it was because I am in a location I've never tried logging in from - a wireless VPN at someone's office, presumably firewalled. Are you in a different physical location from where you normally log in?

Error message logging in

No I'm not in a different location, I'm at home. But this Mac is 'wired,' and thru the westell 2200 dsl modem and then into the Linksys wireless rounter. This is the first time I'm tried to get this Mac on line with SL. My Macbook is always wireless to the Linksys, and has no problem. I think I've just figured somethig out to try. I've never been able to VPN in to work from the 'wired' Mac either. It isn't Mac firewall settings so it's probably a firewall in the Westell. Unfortuantely I have to call Verizon to get the password to change the Westell's firewall settings. It wouldn't surprises me if your problem had to do with your location. Many corporate networks are locked down in one way or another. Rae

Yep - it's an academic office, not a corporate one, but it has some fairly tight controls on where you can surf and stuff, so I'm sure there's something here preventing me from getting on to SL - that's why I'm not sweating it (yet!). I hope you get your problem solved though .

Enable ports on modem

Thanks!
Rae
PS - This is a question for anyone out there who might tune in . . .
Got the password from Verizon, got into the Westell, the firewall is diabled. But they said by default it might be blocking certain ports, which they could enable if I knew which were needed.
Anyone have this info?
BTW - The Mac system log said that another firewall other that Mac firewall IS enabled.

Update on this one.
When we upgraded from 10.3 (our old mac's image was dragged on to the G5 dual processor) to 10.5.2, a host of issues disappeared. And we had to problem logging into SL what so ever.
Peace . . .

What is 10.3? The version of your Mac software? Sorry, just trying to learn.
