my avatar remain logged in World !!! help !

hello all .
since that day, my avatar remain logged in World, even after I shut down the computer .I have also shut down the adsl modem.

Of course, I can't log in, as the system believe i'm already logged. My friend see me online, not moving, she can Im me, 2 or 3 time she get the "not logged" message at the beginning, but now, every IM seem to be sent and i appear logged in her friends list..
I don't know what to do or if it is related to the asset problems which have occurs on the 1rst december.
Is there a way to log me out , when not in world, or should I ask for a ticket or something ? any ideas are welcome ...
I hope that the rolling restart will may be log me out.

You need to file a support ticket. You are right a rolling restart will get you free.

I ghost quite often, ironically when I'm sim hopping ghost "hunting"! - and usually have been having to go to Second Life Support to submit a ticket to get my ghost presence cleared.

However, this week, I was out for a good 16 hours, getting that message "account unavailable until blah blah Pacific Time" and I thought "oh oh" ghosted again! And I had a bash at unsticking myself.

Try this. Can't do any harm.

Bring up a log in screen, but don't insert your log in details. Instead, go to the top of the log in screen, click on edit, go into preferences. In the General tab, select "last location"... then go down to the Web tab and click on the "clear now" button next to browser cache. Then close the log in screen and do something else for 20 minutes. Then try to log in as normal on the ghosted account.

There is no guarantee this will work, but as I say, this worked for me earlier in the week. I've had LL tell me of other ways in the past when I've ghosted, but they have not worked, and it is more often the case that only a region restart will actually clear a ghost presence when the avatar cannot log in at all.

Please let us know here in the forums how you got on. On a personal level, I'm very interested in this ghosting situation. Its not a new thing, by any means, but just lately me and a bunch of other ex-ghosted avatars have been finding more ghosts than before, which probably is indicative of the general instability of the grid currently.

But I also see that i'm not alone in that case.

getting linden from friends don't work : they pay, but my balance didn't show it.
they send me dozen of im, without result.
the orbit thing can't work, as i'm in a no rezz sim
I'm stuck in an "abandoned land", so difficult to reach or ask the owner, I will try the ticket as a last option. I have seen that some people wait since more than 2 weeks, which is not good for my future...

A friend tried the "hacked godmode" but didn't want to make some bad thing, as she didn 't know it (but it worked, her menu goes green), so she leave that godemod , to google a little about it, and now, she have not the option available
Any idea on how it is possible to get it back in advanced menu ?

I clear caches, wait an hour and relog didn't do anything.

You say you are on abandoned land. That would mean you are on mainland. It also means the only people who can help you are Linden Lab...........you need to submit a support ticket requesting a sim restart. All other attempts to get unghosted will almost definitely fail. If it takes two weeks for a response (which, for a ghosted avatar, is very rare) then why wait any longer? Wait a week and it's three weeks, wait two weeks and it's four weeks. Do it now and it's two weeks.

Eventually the sim will be restarted since LL does have a schedule for sim restarts........but I don't know what that schedule might be. All these "hacks" to obtain Godmode on Linden owned land (abandoned land is owned by LL) will likely cause you or anyone who does that to have much more than just a ghosted avatar problem.

What's wrong with doing it to prescribed way? Why skirt the proper way to get anything done? Hacks, work arounds, or other methods of avoiding the proper way are so stupid.........it's easy to submit a ticket. Problems such as ghosted avatars are taken care of.......for the most part promptly regardless if you are basic or premium.

I know from experience that LL support can vary, depending on (1) who is working in support at the time a ticket is submitted and (2) whether you go in on a paid account or not (it shouldn't make a difference whether you have a paid account or not, but my no payment on file alt account certainly has had very different treatment from the support office than my main account)

All you can do now is be assertive, go through Second Life Support on a guest ticket and as you know your ghost's location request a region restart.

If your friends do try to use the god tools from the advanced message, they will undoubtedly get the message that their attempted action has been logged - its not worth the risk, and wouldn't clear your ghost unfortunately. But nice to know you have some good friends there.

ok, I will go for a ticket .
It was just to try to spare Linden Lab time.
My friend got the access ok (level 250, all top menu in green) but didn't want to do anything bad, so she leave the hacked godmode without changing anything, and now have not the option shown , that was why I asked about it .

it was also to may be find a way which could be usefull for others in the same case, as we all try when some troubles happen.

well, I will keep my fingers crossed, as i'm a "no paiement info on file" user, and will ask for that restart

All is ok now, and I have not fill a ticket
Yesterday , my friends were not seeing me online, but my AVi was still at the same place, "sleeping" and I couldn't connect
today, all is working again, so may be, as it was not the rolling restart from thursday who cure it, it was coming from the login issue that was resolved a bit later; or may be a SL God is hanging around that forum
things to note : all the im my first friend send have the same hour and minuts.
the ones from the other friend, which where a day later,are not showing, but they may have been capped.
the money they try to sent have been well credited at the good time and day.

Time and sim restarts are always the two things that will cure a ghosted avatar. The sim may have been restarted for other reasons or the servers maybe have finally completed the logging you off due to the time lapse.........whatever, welcome back in world.

Yes, time etc would seem to have cured the problem for you. I'm glad you're now able to log back into SL after such a long time. Welcome back.

Try logging in from another computer, if you can.

I found something out last night that I did not know. I got LL to restart a sim for a ghosted avi who was not me. I noticed the same avatar in the same location for 3 days on the sim next to mine. I tried IMing her, paying her 1$L, and pushing her to the sim boundary........she was phantom (typical of ghosted avis) so that did not work. Contacted Live Chat, told them the situation, the location and asked if it were possible for me to request a sim restart even though I was not really involved......merely trying to get someone unstuck who was probably wondering why they could not log on again. Nicole Linden told me "of course you can"........asked for the sim name and told me to leave the area. About 7 mins later the sim was back up and the ghosted avi was logged off.

So, if it happens to you ask a premium friend to request a sim restart if you can't get a support ticket raised. This works for Mainland........not sure about private estates though.

I'll just give my long list of current ghosts inworld to you and you can ask those nice Linden people to restart all the sims

Ugh.. Now I'm ghosted. I just submitted a ticket, so hopefully, I'll be un-ghosted(?) by morning. Very strange, because I look up my AV's location from an alt, and it shows it's offgrid. This is quite an interesting subject & I hope to be up and running before my morning hosting shift. Thanks to LL if you can solve my ghastly problem aswell and kudos to the creator of this thread. Good Luck with getting un-ghosted. If its any consolation, I never saw so many ghosts inworld as we've currently got. Need a rolling restart methinks!

About an hour ago I ran all over the grid trying to stay ahead of rolling restarts. Seemed everywhere I went I got the pop up 3 minute warning. I believe by Thursday all the sims will be restarted.

Yes.. I believe they do need a full restart. Guessing by the number of threads in the forum on this topic.
I'm still ghosted, but there hasn't been any progress on my ticket to this point. Good luck to all of the other folks with this problem. I hope your SL bosses are understanding!

Forgot to ask - do you know whether you're ghosted avatar is on the mainland or on one of the private regions? LL have a slightly different way of dealing with private regions in that they expect you to contact the region owner - great if you know where you ghosted and have an alt or a friend you can contact to ask on your behalf!

And I think the reason your alt saw your ghosted avatar as offworld is maybe because - and I'm guessing here - you used Advanced Menu, and although the button on the profile lights up like you can find someone's location on the map its a red herring.

Support took a couple of days recently to unblock one of the ghosts I recently reported. Get the feeling that LL staff are even more thin on the ground than usual as a lot of procedures are very slow (possibly because its all hands on deck while the grid is so unstable and they're all clinging onto the servers for dear life!
