Account certificate question

I jsut got an account with a gift certificate. No where on my account page i can see that i have a certificate. It still has the button activate account. If i do will it charge the cc or will it find the gift certificate wich is supposed to be there?

Does the message you're seeing say something about a "invalid Certificate Authority File"? And you're getting it when you try to start SL, right? That error shows up when your system clock is off by a year or two. Set it to the current date and time and that should fix it.

Email [email]billing@secondlife.com[/email] or call. I think a credit card is still needed but they will credit back the $ when the certificate is "redeemed"

I got my account with a gift certificate and went through the same thing. Honestly, I'd never do that to somebody. SL has horrible practices when it comes to gift certificates. They make you go through the trial period first before acctivating your account (which lasted nine days, for me) in which time you can't receive a stipend or join groups. (Of course I was able to join a couple for some strange reason, then it stopped working for the remainder of my trial period.) They won't charge your credit card if you entered the coupon code when registereing, no. Just wait until the trila period is up, they'll activate your account and the gift certificate will be applied towards the balance.

on my profile there is a button that says activate now that if i press it, it will automaticaly "bill" me.... *scared to press it* I dont want it to bill the credit card... thanx for the imput but im not going to do n e thing untill Linden gets back to me.
