Use ctrl+alt+D to show the advanced menu, go to debug settings, find "UseOcclusion" and set it to "FALSE".
I understand that fix was provided to owners of certain Intel graphics adapter owners.
However, if that does not work...hmm, how severe are the crashes?

You might be over heating. SL is very CPU and GPU intensive which makes them run hotter than almost any other program in existance. Laptops have the heating problem more than desktops because all the components inside are much closer to each other and air movement inside is restricted........and the least bit of dust build up is very likely to restrict that air flow even more. Try getting a can of compressed air and blow through all the ventilation holes to get the dust out..........I wouldn't recommend taking any case panels off like us desktops users can. Also look into getting one of those cool pads to place your laptop on when using SL.
And, of course, look for an undated driver for your graphic chipset.
Maybe you could discribe your "severe" crash more completely. Like does SL crash and you wind up at your desktop? Or does you computer completely lock up? Both are crashes that make SL unplayable but the lock up is much more serious than SL just crashing. And often the fix for one is quite different than for the other. I've assumed your "severe" meant a lock up.

Everytime i do anything, I think its because of the "Viewer." I am not sure that everytime i do anything look through the items, walk around or anything that my SL Crashes, Serverly It only crashes SL and not my laptop..

Hi Ryoxal, you are sooo lucky! My SL and the latest release candidate will not finish loading before crashing! Also a Win XP laptop - but this is a 3.5 year old VAIO. This started happening about 3 weeks ago. I thought a different version might fix it so I tried the RC. It gets to the loading multimedia part (after I hit login) and then crashes. The latest update for that, downloaded today, does the same thing but it displays a message about a security update first this time. Maybe I'll look for that and see.
Good luck.
