DNS could not resolve the host name.

Has anyone had this issue... I haven't been able to log onto Second Life due to that. I tried looking it up in the Knowledge base with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated -- thanks .

edit: I just flushed my DNS cache, and it STILL hasn't fixed my problem...

I had that the other evening for a short time. What that usually means is that for some reason your computer is failing to connect to the SL servers. Sometimes a simple reboot solves it, sometimes it's just a matter of trying again........and sometimes it requires resetting your modem/router. If you can access other websites then it could be that SL is experiencing problems. I believe that error message also says to see if you can access SL's website......and if you can and the problem continues then to contact SL support.

By the way, I just waited the problem out when I experienced it the other evening.........about 15 mins.

Hmm, well I rebooted my computer and tried again. And it didn't work. And I'm not going to be resetting my modem/router, since I can get onto other sites just fine without any issues.

I figure that it's SL that is experiencing problems, since I still can get onto their site without any problems and other sites as well.

I found out that other people had this issue... and I tried doing what they did to get past it, without any luck.

The choice is yours, of course but you asked for suggestions or help. Regardless of the fact that you can access other websites it still can be your router/modem needing resetting. It's really a simple thing to do.

This "issue" is really quite common so sure others will have had it happen......I just told you I did. And it's not the first time, nor will it be the last time.

From the login screen hit Shift-Ctrl-G. This will make the grid selector control visible next to the "Quit" button. Make sure it says "Agni".

It may be that your ISP's DNS servers are merely pointing to the wrong IP.

I would suggest trying another DNS server. OpenDNS is quite good.

They will walk you through it on the website: https://www.opendns.com/start

You may set it up on your computer, or your router (if you set it up for your computer, it will only affect your computer. If you set it up on the router, it will affect all computers on your network).

Nope, I'm not going to do that. Too risky and I certainly am not going to take any chances like that. No offense intended, thanks for the help .

Yes I did... and thanks once again. I may do this. But if this doesn't work, I'll be getting rid of SL for good. It's just not worth the hassle.

"Resetting" your modem and or router can be accomplished by turning them off for a minute and back on. There's nothing to it.

I know... I'll give it a shot. And if that doesn't work -- then I'm done . Not worth the hassle. And thanks for the help .
