Well my tower blew up last night, so I am laptop bound for a while. And with a 4yo system, and 128 megs of video, I was thinking I would have the usual laptop experience, log in, and wait 10 minutes to be able to even move. Well I stumbled across this SL client today, and wow, shocked, I am stunned beyond words.

It's based on the 'old school' SL client, before windlight, before glow, even before voice, before a lot of 'features' that only high end computers can handle. I am not one to ever post to promote a product, just not my style. But if you are struggling with SL and can't pick up speed, I highly recommend this version.

I can run and skip through my own sim, which is usually laggy for me. Honstly I wish I knew this abut 6 months ago when my tower started to get 'sick'. I am pretty sure that I could have gotten a few more months out of it before the big burn.

I just know that a common problem is the newer clients in SL. People just don't have the speed, and LL is taking their time writing a low-end code. Well somebody else already did it:)

Thank you for posting about this - the Nicholaz viewer works great and is so fast.

Just one thing wasn't so clear for me:- the file "message_template.msg" needs copying from the "app_settings" folder of the LATEST SL client.

Also when starting for the first time - the viewer shows a red Linden message saying that the viewer is out of date and the newest one must be installed in order to login - this message can be ignored.
