For some reason my Second life had crashed ealryer today and it took me a few times to try logging back in to get back on. but after i did, i noticed that every message i send is sent out 3 times, and any message i recieve can be recieved up to 8 times in a row...
So basically if i say hi it'll look like: Triges Mayo: hai Triges Mayo: hai Triges Mayo: hai Bob Smith: Hey Triges Bob Smith: Hey Triges Bob Smith: Hey Triges Bob Smith: Hey Triges Bob Smith: Hey Triges Bob Smith: Hey Triges
Anyone know whats doing this? I;ve restarted sl many times and its not being resolved
EDIT: i wanted to add that while i see others messages up to 8 times, other people do not, and my messages are seen up to 3 times in a row by everyone

When that was happeing to me I think it was caused by something in the wireless Ethernet connection. Maybe it was something else but when I eliminated the wireless link the problem went away for good.

I'd start with turning the entire system, computer, modem, router, toaster, whatever, off for a while.

It's almost definitely a network issue. Even if you are hardwired to a router most routers also have wireless capabilities. I've heard it possible (but have never experienced it) for you to get some sort of echo effect if your computer also has wireless capabilities. Data is sent and recieved twice or more due to each connection transmitting/recieving........one is faster than the other. Disabling your wireless connection in the computer should solve the issue.
But, since your problem went away I just wanted to throw that out. It might be something to look into and disable now..........in case your problem wants to come back.

It's something in your network. Is there a router involved? If so bypass it and go directly to your modem.

From: Peggy Paperdoll It's something in your network. Is there a router involved? If so bypass it and go directly to your modem. hehe it kinda hard to do that.. i did notice while this is going on it cuts out any mic funtion from within the game as well. I'll just list off some programs i'm running maybe soneone know a conflict with one. firefox, TeamSpeak 3, steam, msn, and sometimes winamp. of course i don't runthem all at the same time but usually one is running in the background. None of my other games seem to lagg, even counter strike source, which is very ping dependent. If i restart second life, it solves the problem for around 10-15 mins and then it'll start back up. System: Windows 7 Professional Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L motherboard Intel E5200 duo core Oc'd to 3.0Ghz 4 Gigs of ram Geforce 9800 GTX+ also running over gigabyte eathernet into a gigabit router directly wired. I can try running everything over wireless, see what happens :/ again this seemed to all start after my SL crashed when a sim closed that i was in

What kind of internet service do you have?
You could try resetting your router - not just restarting it, but resetting it, which one some models is done by pushing a button or switch down for a few seconds, or you could try updating the router firmware, if possible.
You might want to see if you have packet loss, using such programs as winmtr and tracert or other such.
I checked at jira.com and there are a number of reports of similar problems. They all get "resolved" with a statement that the problem stems from packet loss, is not a bug in LL's software or a problem with LL's networks or anything else that is LL's responsibility, and a suggestion to file a support ticket for individualized support, and perhaps contact your router manufacturer for support and or your ISP.
Some folks report that the problem occurs when they use a wireless connection and goes away when they use a wired connection. One person reported the reverse. If you have a cable modem you could try restarting it, and you could try resetting it, or updating it's firmware, if possible.
If you can remove the router from the circuit by plugging your computer directly into a modem that's another thing to try.
Your preceding post appeared while I was typing this. Obviously you could try running SL without any of the programs you listed running.
