Hi everyone, here I am again with SL doubts but now it's even more annoying because it involves clothes and money.

The thing is that I bought some discount clothes at Pixel Dolls (one of my favorite stores) and I paid and received the clothes, all great so I worn the clothes and they didn't load, I teleported to another region logged out and logged in and then I was wearing the same clothes as before and the new ones were gone... the folders VANISHED and the money that I paid for them was gone too... I'm so pissed off that I could bite someone :(.

Why happened to the folders? Can someone explain to me how can this happen if you pay and you worn the clothes?

Please... can someone respond to my question I don't want this to ever happen again.

For your kindness thank you so much :).

You can try clearing your cache, logging in to an empty area, then hoping and waiting.

They are updating the sim server code, which includes the sim database. Version 1.25 is suffering database issues...

After being inworld for over 4 1/2 years, my wife received an email oneday from LL, saying that there was good news and bad news... Good news, her avatar name was still intact, bad news, everything in her inventory was lost and irretreivable from a database failure.... Imagine logging in and finding you have lost millions of L$'s worth of inventory, most of which is irreplaceable?

Pity we hadn't heard about SLInventory before that day. One thing for sure, it won't happen again.

Well now this happened to me too :( ... just bought couple skins, and as they were not appearing properly, I did try to log out and then log back in, and also try the advice to clear the cache. But now after logging back in the folders are completely gone. *sigh*

Seems that skins and clothes are not appearing as supposed to, and losing whole folders of items now repeatedly.. not a good start.

Please please PLEASE tell me she got reimbursed for everything, at least in the form of L$?

Also, exact same thing happened to me yesterday (same store, too). It's really upsetting.. I'm being told that if I wait a couple weeks, it'll all show up in my Lost and Found, but somehow, I doubt it.

Sadly not.... LL take no responsibility for any of your goods, 'thats an inworld issue'.

OP, you are not alone on the Pixeldolls fiasco, same thing happened to me and at least half a dozen others that I know of. I purchased 13 outfits yesterday morning (as an alt though) and they all appeared in my inventory as I purchased, when I opened the folders they stayed loading, while this was happening, a member of a group I belong to mentioned that she had relogged and all the pixeldolls things had dissapeared. Sure enough I relogged my alt and *WHAM BAM* all the folders had vanished. I am still awaiting a response from both support Linden Lab side and from the pixeldolls side. Same thing happened to us all unfortunately. Not only do I feel bad for those of us who lost what we bought, but for the poor person who has to attempt to fix this, thats going to be an utter nightmare!

OMG O___O Are you telling me that I can lose all my inventory if the database of my avatar has a failure? this sounds like a nightmare, I'm sorry for your wife (I would have been so pissed of).

I'm going to send a message to the Pixel Dolls owner to see if she can send me those clothes :(

And thank you everyone for your responses <3

If you follow the Blogs and the splash screen posts when you loggin, you may have spotted an announcement that LL retrieved around 750,000 'lost' items from the past years, from the databases. Sadly, none of the things I have lost, or any of the items my wife lost, were included in that figure.

This is not the first time they have announced this. First quarter of this year, another 170,000+ items have been 'found' and dumped into ppls lost and found folders.

Recently, we created a new runway for our Modelling Agency, it was dropped from the inventory, between the building place and final resting place, but unfortunately, one item in the collection, was for some reason, no copy. 10 seconds after dropping, the sim crashed and we lost the lot. The changing of permissions for objects, seems to happen at will.
Anyone experienced the 'you cannot alter this object as you do not have permissions', when its a prim you just rezzed? Seems to be a bug that has been plauging the population over the past 6 months.

Which is useless anyway since it only lets you back up items you made yourself or have full perms to.

The best way to back up those items is to rez them in-world. The inventory and in-world object databases are separate, and I have a huge box on my home plot with copies of all my copiable possessions in it.

Sometimes I notice that some of the items I'm wearing appear below the library folder, where items shouldn't be. When I click on one of these items and drag it to another folder, it will crash my computer and when I log back in the items that were below the library have gone!

It's very irritating to say the least, especially when you have just bought the item! It has happened to me approximately 50 times since I have started playing second life two months ago, and I just don't think it is on!

I won't be buying anything else until I notice this problem has been resolved, or until my inventory is empty! Whatever comes first.

And you think that they are all safe sat in a prim on your land? LOL The vast majority of items that are lost, happen when the Sim crashes.
Let me think, I put all those things that are no copy, trans into a prim, and while I'm away, SL changes the perms to my items.....
I own a store that sells Media equipment, it would not be the first time I have logged in to find all the perms have been switched on, so no trust there.

SLInventory allows me to protect all those things that I own or have full perms on. Which is of considerable value to me.

In the Inventory Window, check how you are sorting the folders. Sort menu, check you are seeing the folders how they are set to show, try changing the settings and back again, see if that changes.
It maybe a corrupt xml file on your system, try uninstalling SL completely, then reinstalling a fresh downloaded copy. If you are using Vista, once you have downloaded the fresh copy, find it and right hand click it, choose Run As Admin...
