Just pulled out a copy of my blimp today, so I could reuse the script in something similar - I open it so I can copy the contents and I'm rewarded with a blank script and the message "Script is missing from database".
I'm gonna call this one... a bit concerning... and leave it at that.
The compiled version is still running on the object, though, responds to my commands and everything. I'm a bit confused and worried.
Any thoughts, anyone?

It poofed on the asset server. The bytecode is stored separately, which is why it's still running. You should definitely submit a bug report about that.
This isn't the first time stuff vanishes, and it's a very serious thing, as people will quickly loose trust in their stuff being as permanent as they expected it to be if such things keep occuring.

Sorry to hear that Hawk.
I had something like this happen to me early on, so I usually do backup copies of all of my scripts to my scripting folder, and then I also do copies of my most complex scripts by copy and pasting to text files on my hard drive.
I wish there was a "Save to Local File" option on our script and notecard editor windows, just as we can "Save Texture" if we have the right permissions.

Main-script of big-project is "Script is missing from database."

Just happend to me aswell.......object of 185 prims, over 250 scripts...and 1 main "CPU" script...ofcourse...that script is "Script is missing from database." lol.......and yes, everything still works perfectly.....so it's true dat "source" and "compiled" script are two differant objects. Anyways, submited 'bug report'...but 3 days later still now reply....getting worried now hehe. I tried and older object, which also had the script.....the older item was stored in my inventory......so i retreived it from my inventory....but had exactly the same problem, all scripts are fine, except the "CPU" one......possible reason could be, that there was nothing changed in the "CPU" script from the older to the new version, so basicly same script, just differant object containing it. To problem started when the "sim ping" in "debug-window" was very high, and froze the sim. With very high i meen, from around 200ms to 2000ms, sometimes even 20000ms => 20s. I know i opened the script before the server froze....didn't change the script, but looked something up......then, the sim froze, and i opened the script again to reset it manualy with "reset" button....i couldn't open the script, first time i got the "Script is missing from database." error.......but, when the sim restored itself (nobody relogged btw, we just waiting 3 minutes or something), the script still gave the "Script is missing from database." message. This ofcourse indeed worries me...because first of all, it's the main script of this big project, and this basicly holds me back to ever upgrading or improving it, or, even worse, fixing a bug. This object worked great for like 2 months now, so i don't expect bugs, but i was planning on updates soon. Ah well.....nothing much more i can do then wait and see when and how this problem is fixed i guess hehe rjanT

I don't trust SL at all with respect to keeping my scripts.
I keep the master copy of all my scripts on my hard drive, in text files.
Yeah, its a pain in the butt to maintain. I wish there was a 'save to disk...' menu entry for scripts you are the creator of. But my scripts are my life -- they are what define the value of my vehicles.
Almost every day, if I make changes to scripts in world, I copy them back to both my scripting folder and text files in my hard drive.

Yeah, I've had the same thing happen to me quite a few times. Always keep backups!
