My problem is my cpu is running at 668MHz when it should be running at 2100MHz.
Its an Athlon XP-Mobile 2500 (in a desktop computer)
the motherboard is an MSI KT4V

In the bios, i had it set the FBS to 166MHz and the multiplier to 12.5/13, and when i boot, it says its running at 668MHz, meaning that the multiplier is at 4... To try and fix this, ive updated the bios, updated chipset drivers (which got me froma 3 multiplier to 4).

If anyone know a way i can fix this, id really realy appreciate it.

Is the BIOS reporting that speed or is Windows? XP has issues with properly reporting the speed of athlon mobile processors.... and lastly... Why do you have a mobile proc in a desktop machine?

Oh yeah, lose the MSI mobo, you'll be much happier. ;)

In Your Windows Control Panel change your power scheme from laptop to Desktop. It sounds as if your computer thinks it's on battery power and is automatically stepping down the processor speed to save your "battery life." By changing it to desktop you should force it out of thinking its on battery mode and it will automatically step the processor speed up.

:( it was already set on desktop. Its not a windows problem since its booting up at 650mhz. So, im gonna run some test on another computer with this cpu, see what happens. And thanx to everyone who responded, i really appreciate it :)
