Can some one please list for me the in's and out's of modify?
Another words. I have some thing on no modify. If I drag the item and drop it to some one else, does it become their owned item, which they can take the no modify off? If I have something marked no modify, can anyone open the script file and turn it on if i have it off, when they buy it? How come when I have no copy marked, and modify on, someone can modify the item I made then copy it?
These issues are resulting in great debatts. I would appreciate any and all findings to this quesion

as far as i know if something is no-modify and you give it to someone or they buy it then it stays no-modify. if it's no-modify then no one can mess with the contents including scripts. if it is modify and no-copy then obviously they can modify it to be copyable. :)

This is a tricky business, trying to make sure that people can only do what you want with an item.

If you sell an item, you can set it so the buyer cannot copy or modify it.

They won't be able to access anything in the object's inventory. And they can't copy it.

If you allow modify but no copy, then they can get access to anything inside and do whatever they want with the inventory contents.
If it's a single prim, they won't be able to copy the original object, but they can grab everything out of it including the textures on the object.
If it's a linked set of prims, they will be able to unlink the object, relink it in a different way, then copy it.

You can sell objects for 0$, and that's the way to guarantee a it stays no-copy, no-modify on their end. This doesn't work for boxed clothing, since it needs to allow modify for people to get out the contents.

If you give something to someone by dropping it to their inventory, they will be able to do whatever they choose with it, so far as I know.

I recommend Buy for $1 rather than Buy for $0. Buy for $0 allows texture removal.

Thanks,
