I have a problem, I purchased a pre-made house by Bill Linden for $1750 but once I got it to my little plot of land and took it out of my inventory it was missing parts, that is not the worse part though. I decided since I lack any modeling skills I would delete the house to re-coop my money instead of trying to replace what was missing, I tried to delete it but for some reason it would not go away, it gave me some error but I can not remember what it was now (been a few days since I done all this). I moved the house off my property and went looking for another, when I got back the house was gone but I did not get any money back. The house is not in my trashcan folder as I deleted it, I do not know if the house is still "in world" moved by another person or I tripped uppon a bug that nobody has come across yet. I flew around looking for the house but have not seen it, maybe it is under ground for all I know.
Has anybody else had this happen to them..?? if so how can I get my money back..??

It sounds like you may have been lagging pretty bad...sometimes when i have bad network lag, parts of my lab are missing....after a while though they pop up....same thing with deleting...sometimes i delete something and it doesn't go away right way.....one in particular that i showed to a linden was an item that had been deleted but was still in front of us...he relogged and the object was gone but was still on my screen...as to why you didn't get your money back for deleting I don't have an answer there....sorry 8(

I nice way to test if an object is really there (even if you are still seeing it) is to try to walk through it. If its non-solid 99.9% it isnt there and allready deleted. Hope this helps a bit. =0))) On the money end. Sometimes if its really laggy and your not getting your money back give the data a day to catch up, chances are it will.

walking through "nonexistant" objects

One caveat to what Steller said:
If the client still thinks the object is there, and it has a low profile such that its top is somewhere between your avatar's mid thigh and feet, then your avatar may appear to pop up and stand on the object as it walks through unimpeded (especially if the primitive is a box).
This is a client-side effect which unfortunately doesn't have a trivial fix. Nevertheless, it's on my buglist and I hope to get a chance to fix it soon.

I hope it gets fixed soon, account history says I have 2540 in object claim but have nothing placed in world. Where it all is I have no clue, I need some sort of way to find my stuff so I can get ride of it.. I have attached a link to a screenie of my land, objects and account history, should the house be in there if I actualy had one in world..?? http://home.insightbb.com/~jnickol/broke.jpg

your object delete subtracts from yoru object claim.....object claim is all the objects you've created....subtract the object delete and it wont' be that big...(your object delete may be bigger than claim if you deleted someone elses items....
(correct me if i'm wrong...this is just how i understand it...)
the big chunk of your money was land purchase and maintanence it seems....(that's just what i gather from the screenshot...you also spent a lot of money on objects to buy them....but it doesn't seem you are currently paying for many items.

Honka, If you are still missing your money the next time you log in, track down a Liason and explain the situation to them. They should be able to give you enough money back to cover you until the next stipend shows up.

Something odd happened to me too last night, in a related case (or maybe not so related).
I was trying to edit something in my house and accidentally changed the texture of my floor instead. I went to change it back, and somehow managed to delete my entire house instead. So, here I am trying to replace my house in it's original position, which isn't easy because I didn't want to have to pick up ALL my stuff again, and it's NOT easy to fit your house back around all your stuff, esp. if you have something like a floor rug. =p
Now, the problem came, when I screwed up it's positioning the first time SO bad, I decided to delete the house again and re-drop it. When I deleted it, I saw the hourglass timer on my screen like the comp was trying to do something (like credit me for my house), and it never did ANYTHING. I ended up having to log out of the world and come back. The hourglass was gone....but so was my cash, I never got credited for it. This happened to one or two other household items (one was a coffee table that I'd been working on in my living room of my house and NO where else) during the evening, they either vanished after I deleted without crediting my account, and twice last night I tried to create something in world, it charged me for the creation. but I never saw the item appear. Now here's where it gets REALLY strange. I was wandering around last night in the Sim where my house is (Freelon), and while I was wandering around the Sauron's tower near my house...I found my replicated items.
NO WHERE NEAR where my house was, nor anywhere near where I was trying to produce the items in question. They were a good bit aways. I could still see my house from where I found the items, but regardless, they were ~NOT where I had been trying to place them, or even close. Once I deleted the items (including another copy of my house, you'd think THAT at least would be hard to lose) I got the money back...but had I not stumbled onto them by accident, I'd still be missing that money, with no idea what happened to the items.

I'm not too worried about the lost cash, I just wanted to learn to build. But now that I am broke and am being taxed for stuff that is nowhere to be found (I have looked) I kinda lost intrest in the game for now. Until some sort of way is implemented to track down a users things (if mine are realy in world) I will prolly just pop in and see what is new, get ideas etc. Cerridanae Fairchild, It sounds like what happened to me happened to you but I did not log out of the game, I just got tired of waiting for the house to delete so I flew around looking for new ideas, when I came back my house was gone but the cash did not get returned. I'm glad U got yours back though..
