Turn off VPU recover, useless tool and can cause issues..
In smartgart, turn off fastwrite.
I have very few crash issues with my 9600XT with those off and not overclocking, overclocking above 500Mhz causes lots of crashes.
Best of luck.

Welcome to owning an ATI card, the worst piece of crap ever to hit PCs since HP's products.

I would be interested to know if there's a statistically significant MTBF difference between AMD-32 and AMD-64 systems with ATI cards. It seems like there's been a higher number of people complaining about Radeon issues with AMD-64 CPUs.
Then again, it could be a combination of market exposure, and the fact that early adopters are more likely to understand the signficance of system settings when they ask for help.

I dunno bout the AMD 64 problem, but perhaps it is a "cheapie" ATI Radeon card u have there?? See this post I just posted: /111/cc/23082/1.html#post219286Make sure you have the latest Catalyst drivers. Arti PS - my system is a P4 2.4ghz, ASUS P4P800 mobo, 1GB PC3200 RAM, Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9600pro 128mb, 3mbit cable connection, just for comparison.

From: someone i got a error about grathic card drivers I actually didn't see that before. You need to upgrade to the latest video drivers. If the ones Artillo recommends still have problems, try the 3rd-party Omega Drivers.

Same Issue Here

Athlon 64 3000+ Processor Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M V2 Motherboard 1GB DDR400 RAM Gigabyte ATI RADEON 9600PRO 256MB Installed the Omega Drivers, Turned off VPU Recovery, as well as FastWrite and lowered the AGP to 4X, and I last about 3-5 minutes before the screen goes black and I have to hardboot the system I have also disabled the onboard LAN and Sound Cards in the BIOS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. UPDATE: I found the solution for my issue. When I checked Gigabyte's website, I found that an updated flash to the BIOS addressed this issue, and after completed, I cranked my 9600 back up to 8X and ran SL with no issues
